Starting Preschool

Seth started preschool on Tuesday at a local church near our house at the high recommendation from a friend.  After previewing the school in early summer, I was very pleased with what I saw and Seth loved it too!  Last week we all went to Meet the Teacher Night to meet Mrs. Tara and take in his school supplies.  His teacher is great and she has 2 boys as well, so I know Seth is in capable hands.  The first day of school arrived and all was great until I tried to take the usual first day of school picture.  Seth wasn't having any of it and wanted to play with my camera instead...thus the tears in the first picture.  But I was able to get some more later.  We walked in with him and he was fine and even started playing until we had to say our good byes.  He began to cry and kept crying for a few minutes after we left the room (we stood outside the class to make sure he stopped, he did!)  And he had a great day! He listened and obeyed his teacher and even napped a little during rest time!  They must have worn him out, because he wanted to lay down as soon as we came home.  We put him to bed at 6:15pm and slept until 7:15am the next morning...he was definitely tired! He will go back on Thursday and will hopefully have just as much fun!!  How I wish I could be a fly on the wall to see what he's like at school without me!

Almost there...

Almost to the end of summer, which means almost to the end of pregnancy #2 and closer to cooler weather...hopefully!  August is already a busy month for us.  I helped host my sister in law Julie's baby shower last weekend- lots of pink girlie stuff and lots of yummy food!  The next day we had a scare that sent us to the ER due to too many contractions with Noah.  Thankfully dehydration was all it was. Being pregnant during a really hot summer can be rough.  He is definitely head down and ready to go, but it will still be a few more weeks until he makes his appearance in TX.  I am beginning to go to the DR every week to check on Noah, which is always exciting!  My hospital bag is packed and ready to go, his room is ready, his closet is packed with clothes for a whole year, the car seat and the double stroller are in the car! Spencer hosted the annual grow summit for our church Sunday school classes as sort of a recharge and refocus for the teachers and their classes.  He did 3 sessions all Sunday morning and will have a training tonight from 5-7pm! He's worked hard and really inspired our teachers!  Our new date we have circled on the calendar is now January 11, 2013.  This is the new anticipated date to turn in his dissertation.  Its a bittersweet and humbling time, but thankful he can rest a little more, take care of himself and not get sick trying to get this dissertation finished.  Because of this we have been able to do more things as a family and just been able to see each other more.  This will also give us time to continue to persue a church to pastor.  This summer Seth has loved swimming and getting more confident in the water.  We went to a church staff pool party where he just took off and explored the pool in his little raft, but with dad always close by.  He has also taken to being protector of the pretend baby Noah, which is a doll our friend let us borrow to help him practice.  He loves putting him in the crib and taking him in the car.  It will be very interesting to see what he does when the real baby Noah gets here.  Enjoy the latest August pictures below
